SAAD Caraga’s Public Relations and Development Communication (PRDC) Unit presented its FY 2025 first quarter accomplishments during a strategic meeting organized by the Regional Agricultural and Fisheries Section (RAFIS) with DA Caraga’s Regional Executive Director, Mr. Arlan M. Mangelen, last May 16, 2025 in Butuan City.

During the meeting, Associate Project Officer I, Shena Mae C. Pabia presented the accomplished targets of the PRDC team in terms of publication, learning materials, social media contents, partnerships, and initiated training, as well as the recent award for Excellence in Collaborative Public Advocacy from SAAD-PRDC National during the FY 2025 National Information Officers’ Conference in Cebu City.

During the meeting, RED Mangelen emphasized the importance of recalibrating how the DA’s communication team implements their information dissemination through its social media platforms.

“Communication is essential in bringing our programs closer to our farmers and fisherfolk. It should be fast, reliable, and credible,” said RED Mangelen stressing that mainstreaming DA’s programs will bring the government’s presence down to the grassroots.

RAFIS Officer In-Charge, Rhea C. Abao added that regular convergence of the communications team is important to constantly innovate through learning the best practices of each info team of the DA.

“We have to align our strategies to maximize our resources. Know where RAFIS can lend its assistance so we can operate as one DA despite our different functions,” said Ms. Abao.

Aimed at equipping the communication officers the knowledge to create more interesting, relevant, and truthful stories of people-centered development, a crash course in documentary filmmaking and photojournalism was initiated to re-echo some of the key points of the masterclass attended by RAFIS and PRDP in Davao City.

Moving forward, SAAD Caraga will continue to improve its IECs, publication materials, media contents, and convergence initiatives aligned to the program’s thrust and directions to harness the agricultural and economic development of its Farmers’ Associations (FA) to highlight the government’s vital role in driving positive changes in rural communities.
