Continuing its commitment to empower local farmers and enhance agricultural productivity, the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program of the Department of Agriculture (DA) in Northern Mindanao provided Php 1,206,788 worth of agri-interventions to the nine farmers’ associations (FAs) in Lanao del Norte on July 13 to 16, 2026.
The beneficiary associations from nine municipalities in the said province include the Sustainable Agri-Integrated Farmers’ Association (SAIFA) in Matungao town, Kadoldolan Farmers’ Association in Linamon town, Bulacon Farmers’ Association (BFA) in Salvador town, Kalimudan Farmers’ Association in Poona Piagapo town, Small Banisilon Farmers’ Association (SBFA) in Tangcal town, Muslim and Christian Paman SLPA Association in Sapad town, Daan Campo Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (DCFMPC) in Magsaysay town, Darimbang Tagoloan Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (DTFAC) in Tagoloan town, and Pantar Bigasan Agricultural Cooperative (PBAC) in Pantar town.
The SAIFA, SBFA, and DTFAC are beneficiaries of the Vegetable Production Project; the BFA and DCFMPC are the recipients of the Corn and Vegetable Production Project; Kadoldolan FA received the Cattle and Vegetable Production Project; Kalimudan FA received the Corn and Abaca Production Project; Muslim and Christian Paman SLPA Association received the Goat and Vegetable Production Project; and PBAC is the beneficiary of the Abaca Production Project.
The agri-inputs delivered consists of sweet corn seeds, agricultural nets, chicken nets, sacks, garden hoses, plastic containers, UV films, plastic mulch, plastic seedling trays, rakes, slashing bolos, trapal, and water plastic drums. These interventions are expected to improve the efficiency of the FAs’ farming activities and enhance their capacity to meet market demands.
The distribution of interventions was carried out in close coordination with the local government units through their respective Municipal Agriculture Offices. These offices play a vital role in implementing and monitoring these livelihood projects at the community level to ensure effective delivery and sustainable impact.
“These interventions aim not only to enhance productivity but also to motivate our farmers to take part in community-driven enterprises that can improve their livelihoods,” said Sherafin Simon P. Calacar, Head of the SAAD-Region 10 Operational Planning, Budget, Monitoring, and Evaluation (OPBME) Unit.
The SAAD Program’s strategic agri-inputs not only provide immediate benefits but also lay the foundation for long-term agricultural growth.
“Providing farmers in Lanao del Norte with access to these interventions enables them to enhance their farming practices and boost their crop yields,” said Calacar. ###
