Farmer associations assisted by the Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program in Masbate participated in the Farmers and Fisherfolks Enterprise Development Information System (FFEDIS) Information Caravan in Masbate City.

The information caravan conducted on August 12, 2026 oriented farmer associations on FFEDIS, including who may register, the documentary requirements, available registration channels, and the benefits of being registered to the system.

Representatives from the Association of Farmers of Sitio Tudsoy from Brgy. Salvacion, Balud, MAAN Farmers and Fisherfolks Association from Brgy. Polot Baleno, and Brgy. Sowa Diversified Agri-farmers Association of Brgy. Sowa and Magkaipit Farmers Association of Brgy. Magkaipit, San Fernando, Masbate attended and actively participated in the discussions and orientation.

Understanding FFEDIS Registration

During the activity, the participants were informed of the documentary requirements for registration, which include an accomplished FFEDIS registration form, updated Mayor’s permit, and certificate of registration from the appropriate government agency. Depending on the association’s registration status, they may get a certificate issued by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), or Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

The participants were also given a walkthrough of the FFEDIS form, explaining the information required to ensure that the details submitted are complete and accurate. The two options for FFEDIS registration were also discussed during the caravan, wherein they may register through the registration desk or through online registration.

A significant part of the discussion focused on the potential benefits of the FFEDIS registration. Participants were informed that registration can help connect farmers and fisherfolk enterprises to market linkage opportunities, loan programs, and financial grants that may contribute to the growth and sustainability of their businesses.

For DA-SAAD associations, the registration serves as an opportunity to enhance their visibility and linkage with government agencies, financial institutions, and potential buyers.

The caravan also featured a discussion on the Sagip Saka Act, which promotes the direct purchase of agricultural products by national and local government units.

Participants learned that being FFEDIS-registered is an important eligibility requirement for those seeking to participate in opportunities under the Sagip Saka Act. Through direct government procurement, qualified SAAD beneficiaries may gain additional market opportunities for their agricultural products.

At the end of the orientation, the participating farmer associations were encouraged to complete their FFEDIS registration on or before October 22, 2026.

The participating representatives from DA-SAAD associations committed to prepare the necessary documents and accomplish the registration process within the prescribed period.

Melissa Cardiño, president of MAAN Farmers and Fisherfolks Association, shared that they make sure to attend and participate in orientation such as this caravan to help her with leading their association.

“Naga attend po ako pag irog sani na mga activity kay dako po an nabubulig sani na mapaimprove pa an amon grupo. Pareho po sani na FFEDIS caravan, makadagdag po gayod ini san amon kaaraman kun pano an proseso san pagparegister tag lalo na po an mga benefits sani.”

(We make sure to attend activities like this because this helps us improve our association. The FFEDIS Caravan, for example, gave us a better understanding of how to register and what benefits we can get from being registered.)

The information and key points discussed will be cascaded to other DA-SAAD farmer associations in Masbate to encourage them to register with FFEDIS and take advantage of the benefits and opportunities that come with it. ###
