Two farmers’ associations (FAs) under the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program, the Golden Hands RIC (Buto) and Maltana Farmers and Fisherfolk Association, achieved sold-out sales during the Department of Agriculture 12 Farmers and Fisherfolk Month Fair on May 14, 2026, in Koronadal City, South Cotabato.

The Golden Hands RIC (Buto) showcased products from their SAAD Mallard Duck Project, including salted eggs and table eggs. The group sold 171 pieces of salted eggs and 290 pieces of table eggs, generating a total sales of Php 5,928.

Meanwhile, the Maltana Farmers and Fisherfolk Association sold 315 pieces of table eggs and nine tubs of custard cake, earning a total of Php 3,171.

Overall, the two associations successfully cleared their entire inventory and generated a combined sales of Php 9,099.

Lourdes Cano, president of Golden Hands RIC (Buto), expressed gratitude for the opportunity to showcase their products during the activity.

“Dako kaayo among pagpasalamat nga nahatagan mi og higayon nga mapakita ug mapaila ang among mga produkto atol sa Farmers and Fisherfolk Month Fair. Dako kini’g tabang sa among grupo aron mas mailhan ang among paningkamot ug madugangan pa ang oportunidad para sa among panginabuhian,” said Cano.

(We are very grateful for the opportunity given to us to showcase and promote our products during the Farmers and Fisherfolk Month Fair. This is a big help for our group in making our efforts more recognized and in opening more opportunities for our livelihood.)

Additionally, the participation of the SAAD farmers in the activity was facilitated by the Marketing Assistance and Enterprise Development (MAED) Unit of SAAD. The MAED Unit remains committed to advancing rural enterprises by continuously providing platforms for SAAD-assisted associations to directly market their products to consumers.

By reducing market barriers and strengthening direct market linkages, the program helps marginalized farmers transition into sustainable entrepreneurs with more stable sources of income.
