SAFA has been a beneficiary of the SAAD Program in Cebu since 2023, and is part of the Vegetable Production with Marketing Enterprise Project.

The program gave SAFA 30 rolls of plastic mulch, 30 crates, 30 bottles each of two fungicides (Pyraclostrobin and Thiophanate Methyl), and 30 bottles of insecticide (Cyantraniliprole 100 g/L) (Table 1).

These farm inputs help the association grow more cabbage and tomatoes. They also improve the quality and storage of their crops.

San Antonio, imo gihapon mi giari aron mahatag ang kaning mga intervention na gipanghatag sa SAAD,” said Ms. Alberta Ternate, member of the San Antonio Farmers Association expressing her gratitude upon receiving the intervention given.

(Thank you for the support you have given us to help improve our farming here at the San Antonio Farmers Association. We will work hard to achieve our individual dreams of increasing our income, especially for the members of SAFA. I also want to thank our Area Coordinator for the tireless support you have given us. Even though Brgy. San Antonio is far, you still came here to provide us with the interventions given by SAAD.)

Right now, SAFA is earning more from their vegetable crops. They plan to grow more crops by expanding their farm area.

SAFA is the only farmers’ association in Cebu covered by SAAD that grows vegetables. As their harvest increases, the Program hopes to help them build a strong community business and inspire other vegetable farmers.
