The Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) conducted a group formation and election of officers in Barangay West Central Poblacion, Nampicuan, Nueva Ecija, on September 4, 2026, as part of the program’s expansion in Central Luzon.

The said barangay was among those initially briefed back in 2024 for possible inclusion in the Program. As part of the preparatory activities for its potential integration, a group formation activity was conducted to organize prospective beneficiaries and establish a foundation for their participation in the program.

The activity brought together 22 farmers from the area to form an association that will serve as a platform for collaboration and representation in succeeding DA-SAAD activities. During the formation, the farmers elected their officers who will lead the group and represent its members in coordinating with the program.

The farmers also worked on their proposed by-laws and outlined the association’s mission and vision. These will provide the group with a framework for setting its policies, defining its objectives, and guiding the management and implementation of its future activities.

Through the group formation, DA-SAAD established an organized farmer association that can actively participate in program activities and work collectively toward developing sustainable agricultural enterprises in the community.

It is also a part of DA-SAAD Central Luzon’s initiative to increase the number of farmer associations that may be included in the program. Brgy. West Central Poblacion is among the areas being considered for the possible inclusion of additional beneficiary groups. Thus, this was based on the shortlist provided and recommended by the Municipal Agriculture Office in Nampicuan.

“Nagpapasalamat ako kasi isa ang Brgy. West Central sa napili ng DA-SAAD sa Nampicuan. Malaki ang magiging tulong nito sa aking mga kabarangay na magsasaka. Nakikita ko nga iyong mga malalapit na barangay rito na natulungan na ng program, tunay nga naman na matagumpay na sila. Kaya nagpapasalamat at nagagalak ako na napasama kami sa program,” said Ariel E. Sadangsal, Punong Barangay of Brgy. West Central Poblacion.

(I am grateful that Brgy. West Central was chosen by DA-SAAD in Nampicuan. This will be a great help to our fellow farmers in the barangay. I have seen the nearby barangays that have already been assisted by the program, and they have truly made progress. That is why I am grateful and happy that we have been included in the program.)

However, the newly formed association will still undergo assessment and evaluation to determine whether it meets the established criteria and qualifications for possible integration in the DA-SAAD Program.

The activity was led by Rommelyn V. Quinto, CapDev Lead; Roselyn S. Bumanlag, Leonard C. Suarez Jr., and Aldrine C. Bulanadi, Area Coordinators of DA-SAAD Central Luzon.

DA-SAAD is expected to continue conducting group formation activities in other nearby barangays with potential integration in the program, along with the training activities being prepared for the farmers.
