Farmers’ associations supported by the Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program participated in the Farmers and Fisherfolk Month Celebration held on May 26–28, 2026, in Tarlac City.
As part of the event, the associations showcased and sold their products at the trade fair, providing them with an additional source of income while promoting their products to a wider market.
Among the participants was the Bamban-Maasim Swine Farmers Association, which recorded Php 6,437 in sales from its egg products. Meanwhile, the Nagsabaran-Casipo Livestock Raiser Association earned Php 9,685 from the sale of various cooked dishes throughout the three-day celebration.
For Elpidio Rico, chairperson of the Nagsabaran-Casipo Livestock Raiser Association, activities like this create valuable opportunities for farmers to earn additional income and introduce their products to more consumers.
“Nakakatuwa rin na aming produkto ay tinangkilik ng aming kapwa magsasaka. Maaga pa lamang ay may nagpa-reserve na ng itlog. Isa pa, marami ang nag-almusal sa aming booth at tinangkilik ang aming mga lutong kambing,” Rico shared.
(We are happy that our products were well received by our fellow farmers. Even early in the event, some customers had already reserved eggs. Many visitors also had breakfast at our booth and enjoyed our goat-based dishes.)
The participation of the farmers was made possible through the support of Municipal Agriculturist Delia Felix and Mayor Roseller M. Toledo, who provided transportation assistance to the associations attending the celebration.
Through initiatives such as trade fairs and market promotion activities, the SAAD Program continues to create opportunities for farmers to increase their income, expand their market reach, and strengthen their livelihood enterprises.
