As part of the Department of Agriculture’s continuing efforts to strengthen the implementation of the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program, the Farmers and Fisherfolks Enterprise Development Information System (FFEDIS) Orientation and Data Validation was conducted for SAAD beneficiary farmers in Barangays Cabawangan and Maeling, Nampicuan, Nueva Ecija, last June 18, 2026.
The activity oriented beneficiaries on the purpose and features of FFEDIS while validating and updating their information to ensure that beneficiary records remain accurate, complete, and up to date. The data gathered will support the DA-SAAD Program in monitoring the progress of assisted farmers and farmer organizations, assessing the effectiveness of program interventions, and facilitating evidence-based planning and decision-making.
Led by Rogie G. Castañeda, SAAD Marketing Assistance and Enterprise Development (MAED) Lead, the registration of the Maeling Poultry Farmers Association and the Cabawangan Corn Farmers Association was initiated. According to Castañeda, formal registration and active membership in farmers’ organizations will help strengthen their capacity to market and sell their agricultural products.
“Iyan naman ang layunin ng SAAD program sa ating mga magsasaka, na hindi lamang natin sila binibigyan ng mga interbensyon kundi tuturuan at gagabayan din natin sila sa pagmamarket ng kanilang produkto,” Castañeda emphasized.
(That is one of the primary goals of the SAAD Program for our farmers – not only to provide them with livelihood interventions but also to equip and guide them in effectively marketing their products.)
Through FFEDIS, registered farmers’ organizations can also gain access to various programs and services from the Department, including market linkage opportunities, capacity-building training, grant assistance, loan programs, and other agricultural interventions designed to support enterprise development.
Following the orientation, data gathering and validation activities were also conducted to verify the accuracy and completeness of beneficiaries’ information before encoding it into the FFEDIS database. The participants actively took part in the activity by providing the necessary information to support the creation of an updated and reliable beneficiary database.
The validated data will enable the Program to better monitor the progress of assisted farmers and farmers’ organizations, assess the effectiveness of program interventions, and support evidence-based planning and decision-making. By strengthening its beneficiary information management system, the program aims to deliver more responsive and targeted agricultural and enterprise development interventions to farming communities in Central Luzon.
The DA, through the DA-SAAD Program, continues to enhance its support services by strengthening beneficiary monitoring and promoting initiatives that empower farmers, improve organizational capacities, and contribute to sustainable agricultural development.
