Positioned for more efficient service delivery for its beneficiaries, the Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) CALABARZON is already witnessing the positive effects of a recent Microsoft Office training program.
This training in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Batangas Provincial Office took place in Lipa City on March 26-27, 2025, and has provided staff with crucial digital tools that are immediately being applied to improve their workflow and support for farmers and fisherfolk.
Among the participants from SAAD CALABARZON regional office, Mr. Ronilo Villabroza Jr., shared how the training has improved his ability to write reports and manage data as an area coordinator.
“Yung mga natutunan ko po dito ay nagagamit ko po lalo ng mga shortcuts at formulas para madali po ang paggawa ng mga masterlist at reports,” Mr. Villabroza stated.
[The things I learned here will be very useful, especially the shortcuts and formulas, which will make it easier to create master lists and reports.].
Ms. Arla Mae T. Recio, Planning Officer II of DICT Batangas Provincial Office, delivered a targeted session on Cybersecurity 101 and the Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI), giving staff the essential knowledge for secure digital operations.
The training then moved to equip participants with key Microsoft Office skills. Ms. Beatrix Jugenle B. Moreno, Project Development Officer I, led practical workshops on Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, enabling staff to achieve immediate improvements in data management and presentation capabilities.
Mr. Wilmer S. Faylon, SAAD Regional Focal, concluded the training by highlighting the increasing importance of data management in public service.
“Data science is very popular now. How do we analyze these data sets and present them effectively to stakeholders who can drive community benefits—from our technologists to our farmers?” Mr. Faylon remarked, highlighting the need for continuous upskilling in managing and presenting data efficiently.
This initiative reflects SAAD CALABARZON’s commitment to continuous learning and collaborative efforts to enhance program management efficiency. The partnership with DICT Batangas Provincial Office demonstrates the influence of inter-agency collaboration in driving innovation and improving service delivery for communities. ###
