Members of both associations showcased agricultural products they cultivated over several months, including vegetables, root crops, and poultry products. Their participation reflected the results of sustained production and marketing efforts under the SAAD livelihood interventions.

Edgar Maturan, Board of Director of the Calvario Farmers Association, said their products sold quickly during the event. He credited the increase in their income to the support and guidance provided by the DA-SAAD Program and shared that the association plans to continue and expand its production.

He said, “Uban sa tabang ug giya sa DA-SAAD program, among nasinati na isip membro sa maong programa ang paglambo. Dali nahalin ang among mga produkto, ug dako ang among kalipay ug pasalamat sa DA- SAAD program sa dakong kausaban sa among pagpanguma nga nakahatag gyud og maayong kita. Kini among ipadayon aron madugangan pa ang produksyon. Daghang salamat gikan sa Calvario Farmers Association.’

(With the help and guidance of the DA-SAAD program, we have already experienced growth as members of the program. Our products were sold quickly, and we are very happy and grateful to the DA-SAAD program for the great shift in our farming that has really yielded good income. We will continue this to increase production. Many thanks from the Calvario Farmers Association.)

The participation of CAFA and JAFA during the town’s founding anniversary highlighted the growing income opportunities for farmers in Lila. The two associations shared that the SAAD Program helped improve their farming practices, increase productivity, and strengthen their organization, while supporting long-term livelihood development in the municipality.

The proceeds from the income generated during the event by CAFA members with individual gardens will be used to purchase seeds and other agricultural inputs to enable them to plant again, support their household consumption, and provide allowance for their Children. Meanwhile, all earnings generated by JAFA were remitted to the association and allocated for the purchase of new ready-to-lay chickens to sustain and continue their production.

From communities once reliant on limited income sources, the farmers of Barangays Jambawan and Calvario now show how government support, strong organization, and collective effort can improve rural livelihoods. Through SAAD, both associations gained not only additional income opportunities but also renewed hope for sustainable development in Lila, Bohol.
