The Nagpan Farmers Association in Barangay Nagpan, Malungon, Sarangani Province, one of the beneficiaries of the Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program, successfully expanded its goat production project from the initial 33 goats distributed in 2024 to a total of 94 goats as of April 13, 2026, including 12 newly born kids.
The distribution of goats is part of the intervention of the SAAD-SOCCSKSARGEN to create sustainable livelihood opportunities and part of its continuing support for smallholder farmers. The 33 goats distributed under the program were entrusted to members of the Nagpan FA, who took responsibility for their care, feeding, and breeding.
Through proper management and collective participation, the goat production project grew over the past two years, resulting in a significant increase in population. Members of the Nagpan FA expressed gratitude to the SAAD Program for providing them with a sustainable source of livelihood that continues to benefit not only their organization but their individual families as well.
“Dako gid among pasalamat sa SAAD program kay tungod ani nga proyekto, nakita namo nga kung magtinabangay ug tarong, mudako gyud ang among alaga ug kita. Dili lang ang among asosasyon ang nakabenepisyo ani, kundi pati pud ang matag pamilya sa mga miyembro,” said Arsenia Tamayo, one of the members of the Nagpan FA.
(We are truly grateful to the SAAD Program because through this project, we realized that with proper management and collective cooperation, our livestock and income can really expand and grow. Not only has our association benefitted from this, but also the families of every member of Nagpan FA.)
The project has also encouraged members to become more engaged in livestock production and cooperative resource management.
Moreover, the SAAD-SOCCSKSARGEN continues to strengthen livestock-based livelihood opportunities alongside other existing projects to marginalized farmers. The growth of the Nagpan FA in terms of goat population highlights the positive impact of the program’s interventions in improving food security, livelihood, and income opportunities to become a Community-Based Enterprise farmer association.
With the continued expansion of the project, the Nagpan FA is expected to further enhance and improve its livestock enterprise and generate additional earnings for members and for the association.
