The Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program, through its Food Production and Livelihood (FPL) Unit, formally turned over a Multi-Crop Drying Pavement (MCDP) worth Php 998,643.48 to the Nagpan Farmers Association in Barangay Nagpan, Malungon, Sarangani Province last January 29, 2026.
Funded under the DA-SAAD Program of Region 12, the project strengthened post-harvest facilities and improved the productivity and income of smallholder farmers in marginalized agricultural areas.
The turnover ceremony was led by Jocelyn S. Misterio, Agricultural Program Coordinating Officer (APCO) of Sarangani, with personnel from the SAAD Regional Program Management Support Office (RPMSO), Provincial Program Management Support Office (PPMSO), and the Regional Agriculture Engineering Division (RAED).
Representatives from the Office of the Municipal Agricultural Office (OMAG) and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Malungon also attended the activity, demonstrating strong local government support for the intervention.
The Nagpan Farmers Association, composed of 45 farmer-beneficiaries, is a recipient of the Integrated Corn Production with Post-Harvest Equipment Support and Livestock Production intervention under the DA-SAAD Program. The newly turned-over Multi-Crop Drying Pavement is expected to improve post-harvest handling by providing a reliable facility for proper drying, reducing post-harvest losses, and maintaining crop quality prior to marketing.
(I sincerely thank all the employees of the Department of Agriculture and the SAAD Program for providing and turning over this Multi-Crop Drying Pavement to our association. Because of this support, all members of the association are truly motivated to work harder and strive to further improve our association.)
The turnover of the Multi-Crop Drying Pavement marks an important step in empowering Nagpan farmers by improving post-harvest handling, increasing efficiency in corn and other crop production, and supporting integrated farming systems.
This intervention is expected to help raise incomes, reduce post-harvest losses, and strengthen organizational performance, contributing to improved food security and sustainable livelihoods in Barangay Nagpan.
