To continuously boost their corn production, seven (7) farmers’ associations from the provinces of Tarlac and Nueva Ecija received 280 bags of fertilizer last June 24, 2025, from the Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program Central Luzon.
In Tarlac, benefitting associations include four groups in the municipality of Anao namely; Campos-West Corn Production Farmers Association, Casili Anao Corn Grower Association, Pagdanggayan Ti Mannalon Bantog Farmers Association, and Rizal Livelihood Farmers Association.
In the same province, two associations also benefited which included Samahang Magsasaka ng Brgy. Coral and Nagkaisang Samahang Magsasaka ng Barangay Toledo in the municipality of Ramos. Further, Cabawangan Corn Farmers’ Association in Nampicuan, Nueva Ecija was also included among the seven group beneficiaries. Each association received 40 bags of muriate of potash (MOP).
The goal of this distribution is to help beneficiary farmers reduce their farming expenses, especially on fertilizer, while improving their crop yield and product quality.
According to Dianne Dela Cruz, Area Coordinator of Anao, her farmer-beneficiaries are deeply grateful for the DA-SAAD program because it helps them save significantly and prevents them from needing to borrow money.
“Kunada garod, imbes nga agutang da pay para makagatang ti abono, maus usar dan iti kuarta para kadagiti dadduma a kasapulan,” dela Cruz added.
[As they said, instead of borrowing money just to buy fertilizer, they can now use their funds for other necessities and farming needs.]
The fertilizers distributed are part of Program’s ongoing interventions to improve the livelihoods of farmers. In addition to input assistance, training sessions and monitoring activities are also lined up to ensure proper use of the resources and to further expand the impact of the program on their farming income.
An additional 2,240 bags of fertilizer are expected to be delivered to the said farmers’ associations in the coming months. ###
