The Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Central Visayas distributed Php 343,923 worth of biologics, agricultural inputs, and tools to four farmer associations (FAs) in Malabuyoc and Samboan, Cebu.
The distribution, conducted in two batches on April 14–17 and April 21–24, 2026, was part of the program’s continued support to strengthen livelihood projects of organized farmers.
In Barangay Tolosa, Malabuyoc, the Palaypay Farmers Association received layer feeds, egg weighing scale, egg trays, wound spray, dewormer, vitamins, disinfectant, and five (5) pairs of rain boots to support their farm operations and ensure safety in handling livestock.
Mahanlud Community Farmers’ Association in Barangay Mahanlud, Malabuyoc and the Camburoy Upland Farmers Association (CUFA) in Barangay Camburoy, Samboan each received an egg weighing scale, egg trays, wound spray, dewormer, vitamins, disinfectant, and rain boots, all intended to enhance their poultry production and improve farm sanitation practices.
Meanwhile, the Dawis Farmers Association (DAFA) in Barangay San Sebastian, Samboan received targeted assistance for its goat production. This included wound spray and boxes of 5ml syringes, aimed at improving animal treatment and health management practices.
The distributed interventions are primarily intended to support poultry and goat production projects of the farmer associations, enhancing productivity, improving animal health management, and reducing operational costs.
Fernando Jr. B. Iran, President of the Palaypay Farmers Association, expressed his gratitude:
“Daghan kaayong salamat sa SAAD sa ilang gihatag nga biologics ug inputs, ilabi na gyud ning 100 ka bags sa layer feeds. Dako kaayo nig tabang sa among asosasyon, labi na gyud sa among project nga manokan kay makapundo na gyud mi og dako-dako gikan sa among ma-income, tungod kay di naman namo kailangan mopalit pa og feeds ug uban pang inputs and biologics. Maong salamat kaayo sa DA-SAAD,” said Iran.
(Many thanks to SAAD for the biologics and inputs they provided, especially these 100 bags of layer feeds. This is a great help to our association, especially for our chicken project because we can now save quite a lot from our income, because we no longer need to buy feeds and other inputs and biologics. So, thank you really to DA-SAAD.)
Through these interventions, the DA-SAAD Program continues to empower farmer associations by providing essential resources that enhance their capacity for sustainable production and income generation.
The initiative aligns with the program’s goal of uplifting marginalized farming communities by strengthening agricultural enterprises and improving food security at the grassroots level.
