From January to June 2025, the Pili Farmers Association (PIFA) recorded Php 412,246 in gross income from their community-managed egg production project—marking a significant gain for a livelihood venture launched just last year.

The initiative, supported by the Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program, began in 2024 through a Php 1.8 million Integrated Ginger and Egg Production Project. It provided 22 farmer-members with 469 egg-laying hens, poultry housing, starter feeds, and technical training. The intervention was implemented in partnership with the Municipal Agriculture Office of Almeria.

From an average of 13 trays of fresh table eggs daily, the group has built consistent supply lines to local public markets, sari-sari stores, and nearby barangays.

Ang among halin miabot ug Php 412,246 gikan sa Enero hangtod Hunyo karong tuiga. Dako ni nga tabang para sa atong mga miyembro, ilabi na sa paghatag sa among inadlaw-adlaw nga panginahanglanon ug para sa among poultry farm operations,” said PIFA President Helen Montes.

[Our sales reached Php 412,246 from January to June this year. That’s a big help for our members, especially in providing for their daily needs and reinvesting in our poultry farm operations.]

Earnings from the project were split between operational expenses and member dividends, allowing the association to sustain operations while building individual income.

Earlier this year, the group reinvested Php 102,000 from their savings to purchase an additional 200 hens, expanding their flock and scaling up egg production.

With steady output and strengthened enterprise management, the PIFA continues to build toward a more secure, farmer-led livelihood—one tray at a time. ###
