𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐂𝐇: DA-GESI and SAAD Program Directors join PTV4’s ‘Rise and Shine Pilipinas’ to highlight DA’s support for women in agriculture and fisheries In time with this year’s celebration of National Women’s Month, the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program takes center stage as one of the Department of Agriculture (DA) key initiatives in empowering marginalized farmers and fisherfolk, particularly women in rural communities.
Today’s episode of PTV4’s “Rise and Shine Pilipinas”, in partnership with the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC), featured SAAD National Director Ulysses J. Lustria Jr. and DA – Gender and Development/Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Program Director Annray Villota Rivera, as they discuss the latest updates on the agency’s programs and policies that champion gender-inclusive development in the agriculture and fisheries sector.
Director Rivera sheds light on DA’s ongoing efforts to promote equal opportunities for women in agribusiness and food production, while Director Lustria shares how SAAD Phase 2 continues to emerge as a transformative program, providing livelihood and enterprise opportunities for the most disadvantaged farming and fishing communities in the country.
