13 FCAs (195 members) receive 1.1M livestock interventions to support their mixed-crop production

SULTAN KUDARAT, March 18, 2022 – Thirteen (13) farmers’ cooperatives and associations (FCAs) in Sultan Kudarat received livestock interventions from the Carabao and Cattle Dispersal Projects of the Department of Agriculture’s Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program on March 15.

Twenty-four (24) cattle and 12 carabaos worth Php 1,139,280 were provided to 195 rice and corn growers in municipalities of Kalamansig, Bagumbayan, Palimbang, Lebak, Senator Ninoy Aquino, and Columbio to support their farming activities.

Both large ruminants will help the farmers during land preparation and hauling of harvests.Table 1. Sultan Kudarat FAs who received livestock interventions

 Nanay Melina, a 55-year-old beneficiary from Kalamansig, shared how grateful they are for the said assistance.

“Perti gid nga kalipay ang akon ya nga nabatyagan subong kay ang dugay ko na nga gina-ampo sa ginoo nga daad maapil man kami sang matagaan kag mabuligan sang gobyerno. Sa subong, ari na gid, dako gid ini  nga bulig sa amon pangabuhi, ilabi na sa uma namon, subong nga may ara na sang carabao nga magamit namun sa pagdaro sa lupa kag sa pag alsa man sang mga sinako nga palay, mais kag iban pa namun nga mga tanum nga halin pa didto sa bukid nga kinanglan namun ibaba kag ibaligya sa palengke. Madamo gid nga salamat sa DA ilabi na sa SAAD program,” said Nanay Melina.

(We are very happy that today, we’ve received what we always prayed for – become recipients of the government’s livelihood project. Today, we have this carabao that will help us in plowing our farm, hauling harvests such as palay, corn, and other crops from farm to market. Thank you so much DA and to the SAAD Program.)

The distribution was facilitated by Sultan Kudarat Team Leader Normohammad Lembak and provincial staff, together with the municipal agriculture staff and agriculture technicians. ###
