257 aquaculture packages distributed to Flora and Sta. Marcela, Apayao

PROVINCE OF APAYAO, November 26-27, 2019 – The Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) distributed 257 packages of aquaculture inputs to fisherfolk from the municipalities of Flora and Sta. Marcela.

Each package is composed of 1,000 tilapia fingerlings and two bags of feeds, which is under the Tilapia Pond Culture Project for FY 2019.

A total of 173 fishers from Flora received 149 packages while 89 fishers from Sta. Marcela got 84 packages.

The distribution of the aquaculture inputs is not in equal proportion because the content of each package is good for 200-square meter pond. Some beneficiaries have a smaller pond area so they were only provided with half quantity of the fingerlings and feeds.

The distribution was assisted by the Provincial Fishery Officer of BFAR-CAR, Meynard V. Domingo.

The remaining recipients from Calanasan, Conner, and Kabugao will receive the same package in December 2019. ###
