SIAYAN, ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE, PHILIPPINES— The Department of Agriculture (DA) – Regional Field Office (RFO) IX provided five thousand (5000) banana plantlets to Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) farmer-beneficiaries in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, in support of their 2017 Banana Production project.
Five-hundred (500) plantlets were allocated per beneficiary situated in three (3) barangays of Siayan in Zamboanga del Norte namely, Macasing, Seriac, and Litolet on January 23 – 25, 2018.
As facilitated by SAAD Area Coordinator (AC) Marisol M. Opinio, and with the help of the Municipal Agriculturist and technician from the Municipal Agricultural Office (MAO), the distribution was done in the respective Barangays’ Pangkabuhayan Centers.
The banana plantlets were sowed one week after distribution to the farmer beneficiaries.
