SAAD Region 7 distributes knapsack sprayers in Negros Oriental

BAIS CITY, NEGROS ORIENTAL—The Department of Agriculture (DA) – Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program continues to support the production needs of the farmer-beneficiaries through a mass distribution of knapsack sprayers, organized by SAAD in Sitio Cambayungon, Barangay Tagpo, Bais City, Negros Oriental on March 1, 2018.

The turnover was attended by DA-SAAD Negros Oriental staff Mr. Jesanro Amarante, together with Bais City Agriculturists, City Planning and Development Coordinator Officer, Engr. Ma. Angeles Socorro A. Banogon, as well as the beneficiaries of the SAAD Program.

Negros Oriental is one of the first ten (10) provinces covered by the SAAD Program in 2017 to alleviate poverty through the provision of livelihood programs.

DA-SAAD is a brainchild project of DA Secretary Emmanuel “Manny” Piñol which aims to help increase the income of poor farmers coming from the poorest provinces of the country, as part of the thrusts of President Rodrigo Duterte to increase food production and reduce poverty in the Philippines.
