Special Area for Agricultural Development Program shines in Kalinga

TABUK, KALINGA, PHILIPPINES — The Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) witnessed the presentation of the Province’s 2019 Plan in Golden Berries Hotel, Tabuk on January 27, 2018.

Kalinga is one (1) of two (2) 2019 additional SAAD provinces along with Mountain Province in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

An open forum followed each presentation of projects identified for each municipality.  The municipalities of Tanudan and Pasil focused on Banana Production, while Balbalan was on Root Crops Production.

Assistant to the Provincial Agriculturist Juliana Aclam calls for the commitment and cooperation of the barangays as they are lucky to be chosen as a SAAD community for 2019. Further, she states the importance of using the preparation phase in order to implement the project proposals effectively.

“We want to hit the ground running,” stressed Caesar D. Lagon along with the Kalinga LGUs who were committed to deliver the services to its identified farmer-beneficiaries but with realistic targets.

Also discussed were “plant now, pay later” schemes wherein the farmers will be paid for the produce.

The Barangay Captains were thankful to SAAD being one of the government programs with benefits that they will actually feel.
