IPs receive livestock from SAAD Bukidnon

BUKIDNON, May 28, 2020 – The Lorega Ancestral Management and Development for All Generation (LAMDAG), with 50 indigenous People (IP) members, received various livestock worth Php 346,000 from the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program of the Department of Agriculture (DA).

LAMDAG is composed of Matigsalug and Manobo IPs from Barangay Lorega, Kitaotao. The interventions given are under the Integrated Agricultural Livelihood Project of SAAD FY 2019.

The livestock distributed to the IPs are 10 head of goats and 10 head of carabao for their communal farm, which is mostly planted with corn.

The carabaos will serve as draft animals in their farm production activities, while the goats will be first multiplied and sold when they meet its requirement.

Kini nga mga carabao ug kanding among nadawat gikan sa SAAD dako og ikatabang sa amoang mga miyembro. Amo kining ipalambo aron makadugang sa among panginabuhian. Nalipay mi kay na approved kini nga project labi nga naay COVID-19 karon,” said Bae Merry Anne S. Lindongan, the Women Leader of LAMDAG.

[The carabaos and goats we’ve received from SAAD would be a big help to all members, which we will develop to augment our livelihood. We’re so happy the project was approved amid the COVID-19.]

Facilitating the turnover were Romeo D. Limbaga, the OIC-Municipal Agriculture Officer; Dr. Janet D. Lopez, the veterinarian in-charge of DA Northern Mindanao; and Ralph Christian Sabud, the SAAD Area Coordinator in Bukidnon. ###
