SAAD NorCot farmers’ association supports communities by supplying fresh table eggs

NORTH COTABATO, April 16, 2020 – Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program farmers’ association of Barangay Carugmanan, Banisilan extended assistance to their communities by supplying 14 trays of fresh table eggs a day amidst the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Carugmanan Farmers Association, which has 35 members, is a beneficiary of the Chicken Egg Production project amounting to Php 500,000. Last December 2019, the association received 500 heads of layer chicken, 184 bags of feeds, 300 sachets of electrolytes, two sets of power sprayer, four knapsack sprayers, 30 pieces of shovel, a constructed shed, and a technical training for Chicken Egg Management.

Due to the imposed Enhanced Community Quarantine, the demand for table eggs in the community increased that is why the association committed to supply at affordable prices.

A tray of 30 table eggs was sold at Php 160 to their barangay and neighboring barangays. From March to April 14, 2020, the group sold 476 trays with gross income of Php 71,400.

From December 2019 to April 2020, the record shows that the association was able to generate an income of Php 153,660 which was utilized to provide financial assistance to its members to cope-up with the pandemic.

The farmers are thankful to the livelihood assistance that SAAD has provided. Now, its members are able to sustain the needs of their families, especially during this time of crisis. ###
