SARANGANI – The Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program of the Department of Agriculture in the province of Sarangani in Region 12 gave 3,600 free-range chickens as livelihood projects of 180 farmers from all of its municipalities this FY 2019.
Thirty (30) farmers each from the following barangays and/or associations below received the 20 chickens per beneficiary in May 2019.
|Municipality||Barangay||Association||Date of Distribution|
|Maasim||Amsipit A||Datal Bual Farmers Association||May 21|

|Kiamba||Gasi||Gasi Corn Upland Farmers Association GACUFA||May 23|
|Maitum||New La Union||New La Union Farmers Association (NLU FA)||May 24|
According to SAAD Sarangani implementers, the project was chosen based on the farmers’ preference. They said that the free-range chickens are easy and inexpensive to take care of as they just roam freely in their backyards.
The livelihood project will help the local farmers of Sarangani increase their income and grow the market for chicken meat and eggs. ###
