ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE – The Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Zanorte team, headed by Provincial Coordinator Ronilo Dusaban, paid a courtesy call to Dioniso Mandawe, acting provincial administrator, at Office of the Administrator in the said province on May 25, 2017.
The Provincial Program Management Support Office of Zamboanga del Norte presented therewith the SAAD Program to the acting administrator. Mandawe, on behalf of the local government of Zanorte appreciates the Department of Agriculture for establishing the SAAD program which extends livelihood assistance to the poorest of the poor in the province.
He also mentioned that in support of the program, they are willing to provide logistics assistance to the SAAD team in order to access the remote villages in the area. Meanwhile, the Provincial Administrator and SAAD Team agreed to formally launch the DA-SAAD Program by the third week of July this year. He said he will invite all municipal agriculturists and representatives of people’s organizations to witness the launching.
The team informed the Provincial Administrator that 43 projects are already in the pipeline for implementation in 25 Municipalities and two (2) cities in Zamboanga del Norte. The total project cost for 43 projects is P52.0M which will cover a variety of livelihood projects like swine raising project, upland rice and corn production, broiler and layer chicken production, peanut production and processing projects among others.
